I downloaded the Brainsight Frameless 1.7 disk image and installed the software. When I launch the software, the application icon bounces in the Dock, and then disappears. What's wrong?
Brainsight 1.7 requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or newer. Go to the Apple menu > About This Mac. Check your Mac OS X version number. If it is 10.3.x, you can upgrade to 10.3.9 for free by running Software Update. If you are using 10.2 or older, we recommend you purchase Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.
When I try to load a NIfTI file, Brainsight crashes
Brainsight 1.7 (but not 1.7b8 or earlier) has basic support for NIfTI files. If you have a data set that Brainsight is unable to read correctly, please contact us. Note that Brainsight only supports the .hdr/.img combination, not .nii files.
Is it possible to track two coils simultaneously?
| Yes, if the second coil tracker which is different than the first. The first coil tracker has a serial number beginning with CT. The second coil tracker's serial number begins with LCT. CT and LCT trackers can be used at the same time without confusing the position sensor. Perform the following steps:
Attach both trackers to your coils.
Perform a coil calibration procedure for each coil/tracker pair. Use distinctive names for the coils, so that they can be easily identified.
When performing the TMS experiment, configure the Polaris "Passive C" tool to be the CTxxx coil, and "Passive D" to be the LCTxxx coil.
To switch coils, select the desired coil in Cursor Tool Pointer Mode.
If you want to see both coils, click on the file name in the Data Groups window to open a second Brainsight Volume View, and in that window, change the Cursor Tool Pointer Mode to show the second coil. Position the windows so you can see both tools.
Once the second coil calibration file (and associated ROM file) is loaded, your second coil should be the coil tool being tracked and displayed within Brainsight.
Brainsight should now be able to locate the files. If not, make sure the files Brainsight is asking for are in the tools folder. If not, move them to that folder, or copy them from the Brainsight CD to that folder. |
Brainsight displays images in radiology convention (left-right swapped). Can this be changed?
Yes. You can change the imaging convention in the Brainsight General Preferences panel. DO NOT change this by flipping the way the images are stored, unless you find that the R indicator displayed on the transverse and coronal images in Brainsight are on the subject's left.
When I create a curvilinear surface, the curves seem to diverge away from the brain rather than into the brain. What's going on?
The direction in which you draw the curves determines which way Brainsight considers in and out of the brain. If you are displaying images in the Radiology convention (L-R swapped), you need to draw the curves in a counter-clockwise direction. If you are displaying in Neurology convention, draw the curves in a clockwise direction. In either case, Brainsight draws a red indicators to guide you.
