Starting with macOS 15 Sequoia, macOS now requires that users grant permission to any application that uses the local network. Brainsight needs that permission granted for:
- Using network-based Polaris cameras like the Lyra and Vega (not for USB-based Polaris like Vicra)
- Using our NIRS device
- Using our Vet Robot device
- Using the NEURO PRAX EEG device
- Using the Axilum TMS-Robot and TMS-Cobot
- Using Brainsight’s network server feature
The first time Brainsight attempts to contact any such device, the following screen will appear:

Best to grant permission immediately. It *should* never ask again and work thereafter (though we have seen bugs in this area).
Early versions of macOS 15 Sequoia also had numerous bugs with this Local Network security feature, be sure to update to the latest 15.x version if you are having any issues.
If you don’t grant permission immediately, or are having trouble connecting to the devices listed above: at the top left of the screen, click the Apple menu > System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network (you may need to scroll downwards to see it). In that screen, there should be a list of applications, including Brainsight. Make sure the switch on the right side of the list is enabled:

If Brainsight is still unable to access the network device, try switching the permission off then back on again, and relaunch Brainsight.
Some users report that after rebooting their Mac, macOS forgets that Brainsight should have local network permission, this despite the permission showing as granted as in screenshot above. Switching the permission off then back on (and relaunching Brainsight) seems to fix this, but then after the next reboot the permission is again forgotten, and so on forever. We believe this is a macOS bug and have reported it to Apple. If this occurs to you, please contact us. At least one user in this situation was able to remedy it by deleting the following file: /Library/Preferences/com.apple.networkextension.uuidcache.plist
and then rebooting. It’s possible deleting this file might reset other network settings, so should only be tried as a last resort.
